What is sin?

What is sin? How did the Prophets, Messiah and the Apostles define it?

THE LAW

Sin is something that we hopefully are trying to steer clear of while trying to draw closer to the Father. After all, the much quoted verse in Ephesians clearly say's that the wages of sin is death, but what is it exactly? Sin is transgression of the Law as shown in the below verse.
Lev 5:17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of Yahweh; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.
To transgress Yahweh's Law is to commit sin, however, religious doctrine states that Christ came and did away with the Law. If the Law is done away with, then it's a logical conclusion that sin is also done away with because there is no transgression where there is no law as stated below.
Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
The problem with this teaching, as is the problem with all false teachings, is that it completely contradicts the Doctrine of Christ. Yahshua constantly commanded people to stop sinning. What was He communicating when he said the following?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
The Greek word behind the word iniquity is "anomia". This word as defined by both Strong's and Thayer's Lexicon is "Transgression of the Law". So Yahshua is warning that many people will be condemned for working lawlessness on that last day. These people were what most would call "believers". They call Him Master or Lord, they prophesied(falsely no doubt) and worked miracles according to the Greek definition behind the term "wonderful works". He also gives us the antidote for the deception that will cause many to hear those terrible words and that antidote is His own Testimony as stated in verse 24. Yahshua tells us that the definition for sin will in no wise change in the verses below.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Heaven and earth would have to pass to even consider a pen stroke being removed from the Law and He goes on to clearly state that we should be doing and teaching the Law right down to the smallest commandments. The warning in verse 20 is similar to the warning we see in chapter 7 where He say's that our righteousness has to exceed a certain level in order to enter into the kingdom. I do realize that most will label this "works based salvation" and continue on their merry way but this is the Author of Eternal Salvation Speaking! The very Word that will judge us on that last day! . Yahshua tells His sheep what to do with the commandments in the Law and that is to obey them and teach them and not only will we enter into the kingdom of heaven by doing so but we will be called great! The total opposite is propagated today and that is that the Law is not only not taught, but they are actually commanding people to disobey it. This is actually very similar to what Yahshua said that the Scribes and Pharisees were doing. Our righteousness must exceed theirs in order to even enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Now the big question in most peoples minds will be "but what about Paul?". We can see by the verses below that he had the exact same definition.
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Elohim forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Paul is saying that we know sin by the Law, just as John said to the elect lady in the verse below.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Sin is transgression of the Law and in Yahshua there was no trasngression of Law. John continues...
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
John said that whoever abides in Him does not transgress the Law. This agrees perfectly with what Yahshua taught on how to abide in Him.
Joh 14:23 Yahshua answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep MY WORDS: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
In order to abide in Christ we have to keep His Testimony. Notice the similar language that John uses below.
1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth HIS WORD, in him verily is the love of Elohim perfected: HEREBY WE KNOW THAT WE ARE IN HIM.
If we keep Yahshua's commandments we will abide in Him and walk as He walked.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, EVEN AS HE WALKED.
I do not believe in sinless perfection but I do know that that should be our goal. At times that we fail we have an advocate with the Father and it is that same man that we are to hear, obey and follow.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yahshua the Messiah the righteous:
1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
